Shoptalk and WHYY Visit LadyBug Shop

This is a big week for the LadyBug Shop. First, Margie Johnson, President of Shoptalk is dropping by our shop to consult with us after she gives a workshop for retailers here in Milford, Delaware. Then tomorrow we are going to be on TV on channel WHYY! Finally this Saturday Dan will be giving a Downtown Delaware workshop on the "Click & Mortar" business model, using our shop as an instruction aid.

Margie Johnson is a well know retailing consultant. She is in Milford to inspire our retailers with tips and techniques for small businesses with her "Sustainable Success Strategies for 09". Margie has over 30 years of experience as an owner and entrepreneur in the retail world. Her "customer centered" training sessions and approach to solving business problems have assisted hundreds of clients. She is a frequently requested retail expert speaker at national conventions, as well as a frequent contributor and writer for regional trade publications. You can learn more about her on her website www.shoptalk.org.

Last Friday a crew from Philadelphia's PBS station WHYY (Channel 12) spent several hours at the LadyBug Shop filming and interviewing Dan and Rhonda and me. They are preparing a short report on the shop that is scheduled to be broadcast tomorrow, Wednesday, February 4 during WHYY's Delaware Tonight program. If you can't watch it at this time, you can find other broadcast times during the next two weeks for WHYY's Delaware Tonight at www.pbs.org/whatson/. We are all excited about our few minutes of television fame!

Delaware's state economic development office is doing a great job assisting small businesses across the state, and has paid special attention to those business that are in traditional downtown business areas. The are sponsoring two workshops focusing on the "click & mortar" business model and asked LadyBug Shop owner Dan Bond to run the workshops. As readers of this blog know, Dan is a ardent proponent of using eCommerce as an economic development strategy for historic downtowns. Those of you in the Delmarva region who would like to attend one of these workshops are welcome. They are free but pre-registration is required. The first workshop will be in Milford this Saturday, February 7 from 10AM to noon. Call Downtown Milford Inc. at 302-839-1180 to register. On Wednesday, February 25 Dan will hold the second workshop from 8AM to 10AM in Newark. Call Downtown Newark Partnership at 302-366-7030 to register.
